📱 Safer Internet Day 2025 📱

Posted Date: 2/11/25 (8:11 PM)

Today is Safer Internet Day, a perfect opportunity to reflect on how we can protect our kids online. As your School Resource Officer, I want to bring attention to three popular apps that pose potential risks for children if not monitored closely:

1.SNAPCHAT
•Claims messages “disappear,” but screenshots can be saved and shared.
•Snap Map reveals your child’s location to friends—and potentially strangers.

2.TIKTOK
•Provides easy access to explicit or inappropriate content.
•Allows private messaging with strangers, increasing the risk of unsafe interactions.

3.DISCORD
•Designed for private chatrooms and video calls with people worldwide.
•Often unmonitored, making it a space where online predators can operate.

What can you do?
• Talk to your kids about online safety.
• Regularly review the apps they use.
• Check privacy settings and discuss the risks of sharing personal information.

Do you know WHO your kids are talking to? Let’s work together to keep them safe both offline and online. If you have questions about online safety, I’m always here to help.
