Pioneer School District
High Levels of Learning….Every Child, Every Day

November 18, 2020

Dear Pioneer School District Families:

This letter is to notify our families that we have had a confirmed case of COVID-19 for one of our teachers at Pioneer Middle School and have additional staff members who have been exposed to the virus and are awaiting test results. We are not currently aware of students being exposed to the COVID-19 virus and are working closely with the Mason County Health Department who will notify families if their child was at risk of exposure to the virus. To maintain a safe environment, we are suspending in-person learning and temporarily closing our buildings to public access.

We will be temporarily closing our buildings to the public through Winter Break and will not have staff onsite, other than essential services and will be slowing down our planning for Hybrid Learning until we know we are in a safer place to begin this process. Until further notice, we will be continuing with our current Remote Learning model of synchronous and asynchronous lessons.  We encourage our families who may have concerns about exposure to the COVID-19 virus to refer to the Washington State Department of Health link below that provides advice on what to do if you were potentially exposed to someone with confirmed coronavirus (COVID-19): https://www.doh.wa.gov/Portals/1/Documents/1600/coronavirus/COVIDexposed.pdf

The safety and wellness of the students and staff in our district is a top priority.  Please maintain safe practices, take care of your family’s health, and know that our district is wishing you well as we proceed through this challenging situation.

Sincerely,

Jill Diehl, Superintendent
